Benton Community Foundation
Founded in 1953, the Benton Community Foundation (BCF) has been dedicated to enriching the lives of children and families in Benton County, Oregon, for more than 70 years. Our story began with a visionary gift from Robert Johnson, then-owner and publisher of the Corvallis Times, who contributed $1,000 to establish the foundation. This generosity, combined with a $1,500 donation from the Corvallis Rotary Club, allowed BCF to begin operations in 1954.
Originally known as The Benton County Foundation, our organization underwent a name change in 2014 to better reflect our mission and commitment to the broader community. As a community foundation, BCF serves as a trusted steward of charitable giving, bringing together the financial resources of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations both secular and non-secular to support impactful initiatives.
Through strategic grantmaking and philanthropic partnerships, BCF continues to invest in programs that enhance education, well-being, and opportunity for all who call Benton County home. Our legacy is built on the generosity of those who believe in a stronger, more vibrant community for generations to come.
