North Homes Children & Family Services

North Homes Children & Family Services is a private, non-profit agency dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services to children and families across Northern Minnesota. Located in Grand Rapids, MN, we have proudly served our community since our founding in 1990.

Our story began in the 1980s when our Founder and CEO, Jim Christmas, recognized a critical gap in services for youth in the northland. At the time, many children in need of mental health support were being sent out of the area, creating both financial and emotional strain on their families. It was Jim's vision to build an organization that not only delivered essential mental health services but also kept families together and youth connected to their communities.

What started as a single residential group home in Grand Rapids has grown into a network of programs and services throughout Northern Minnesota. Today, we offer a community-based continuum of compassionate care, designed to address the unique needs of every child and family we serve. Our approach ensures that clients can transition through various levels of care seamlessly, supported every step of the way by a dedicated team of professionals.

At North Homes, we believe in building on the strengths of each individual, empowering them to return successfully to their families, home communities, and independent living settings.
