When an EF5 tornado hit Joplin in 2011, it caused massive destruction, over $2.8 billion in damage, and, more tragically, the loss of many lives. Thousands of families were left without homes, and the city faced a huge challenge: rebuilding.

Builders from across the country came to Joplin to help, but not all of them built homes with care or quality. That’s when Daman Schuber and Dan Mitchell stepped up. Both saw the need for safe, reliable housing and wanted to make a real difference.

Without knowing the other was doing the same, they each reached out to Rick Betenbough, founder of Betenbough Homes and a trusted name in homebuilding. While Rick wanted to help, he couldn’t manage building homes 10 hours away. Instead, he encouraged Daman and Dan to team up and take the lead. With Rick’s support and guidance, Schuber Mitchell Homes was born, and we’ve been building quality homes with heart ever since.
