Grand Apizza
Grand Apizza, a cornerstone of Connecticut's pizza legacy, traces its origins back to 1955 when WWII fighter pilot Frederick Nuzzo opened the first Grand Apizza in Fair Haven, Connecticut. After years of learning the craft from his brother, Nicholas, who owned Modern Apizza in New Haven, Fred set out to create a pizzeria that not only offered delicious food but also served as a welcoming community hub. Over the years, Grand Apizza became known for its exceptional pizza, and Fred's dedication to quality and service made it a beloved local institution. Fred, along with his wife Rosemarie, ran the business for nearly 50 years, fostering strong ties with the community and gaining a reputation as the "go-to guy" for the support of local schools, churches, and little league teams.
Today, the Nuzzo family's commitment to quality and community continues under the leadership of Fred's son, Mike Nuzzo, who now oversees three successful Grand Apizza locations in Clinton, Madison, and Guilford, Connecticut. Mike’s sons, Michael and Christopher, have also joined the family business, ensuring that the values and traditions established by Fred are passed down through the generations. For over six decades, Grand Apizza has remained a proud, family-owned establishment, continuing to serve the same authentic, New Haven-style pizza that has delighted customers for generations. With a focus on maintaining the high standards set by Fred, Grand Apizza is dedicated to preserving the legacy of excellence and community that has been at the heart of the business since its inception.
