My TRIBE Rise

My TRIBE Rise is a Black-led mutual aid organization based in Altadena, California, dedicated to supporting working-class, elderly, and disabled Black residents in Altadena and Pasadena. Founded in 2019 by Heavenly Hughes and Victor Hodgson, the organization addresses urgent community needs such as food and housing insecurity, public safety, economic development, and violence prevention. With a focus on community empowerment, My TRIBE Rise promotes the values of P.E.A.C.E. (Positive Energy Activates Constant Elevations) and L.O.V.E. (Listen, Observe, Value, and Embrace) as guiding principles in all of its programs and advocacy work.

As the only grassroots organization of its kind in Altadena, My TRIBE Rise blends direct services like food distribution and healthcare assistance with long-term efforts to end racial profiling, police violence, and systemic inequality. At its core, the organization envisions a future where peace, justice, and opportunity are rooted in strong community relationships and shared social values, centered on the voices and needs of Black and Brown families.
