Penticton and Area Overdose Prevention Society
Penticton and Area Overdose Prevention Society (P+OPS) was founded in 2021 as a grassroots response to the escalating challenges of the War on Drugs and the Toxic Drug Crisis affecting the South Okanagan-Similkameen region. With a deep commitment to harm reduction, public health, and community care, P+OPS began as a volunteer-driven initiative, operating without funding but powered by the compassion and dedication of local residents who recognized the urgent need for change. Located at 3715 Lornell Crescent in Peachland, British Columbia, our organization serves as a safe and inclusive space for individuals affected by substance use, offering non-judgmental support and life-saving services.
Thanks to the generosity of community donors and grant-based funding, P+OPS has grown into a vital organization with a staff of approximately 30 individuals. Our team is made up of passionate, skilled professionals and peers who work collaboratively to provide overdose prevention services, education, advocacy, and connection to resources. At the heart of everything we do is a belief in dignity, equity, and the right to health and safety for all. We continue to push forward with our mission to reduce harm and save lives, while advocating for systemic change and supporting those most impacted by the toxic drug crisis.
