Carver State Bank, established in 1927, stands as Savannah’s oldest commercial bank and is one of only 20 African-American owned banks in the United States. With deep roots in the local community, Carver has long served as a pillar of financial strength and empowerment. The bank is an active member of the National Bankers Association, Community Development Bankers Association, and Georgia Bankers Association. It is also the only bank in Savannah certified by the U.S. Treasury Department as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), affirming its commitment to serving underserved populations.

Guided by the vision of “Financial Freedom for All” and the mission of “Providing the Building Blocks to Financial Freedom,” Carver focuses on promoting economic equity and opportunity. It is the only financial institution in Savannah headquartered within one of the city’s low-income census tracts, making its purpose-driven work even more vital. Carver is uniquely positioned to support low-income individuals and distressed communities, actively working to bridge financial gaps and create lasting, positive impact.
