Savannah Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Inc., located at 102 Coleman Boulevard in Savannah, GA, has a rich history rooted in tradition, innovation, and Southern pride. It all began with the original Coca-Cola recipe crafted in 1866 by Atlanta pharmacist Dr. John Stith Pemberton. By 1891, Asa Candler had acquired the rights and helped form The Coca-Cola Company, which grew rapidly through partnerships like the one in 1899 with Chattanooga lawyers Benjamin Thomas and Joseph Whitehead. Their bottling agreement paved the way for Coca-Cola’s nationwide distribution, and in 1902, Savannah Coca-Cola was founded on East Bay Street, delivering the iconic 6.5-ounce bottles by mule and wagon. Leadership passed from John Poindexter Sr. to his son in 1936, keeping the legacy strong through generations.

The decades that followed brought bold new flavors and packaging to the region, including Sprite, Tab, Fresca, Mr. Pibb, Mello Yello and the now-familiar 2-liter bottle. In 1980, Savannah Coca-Cola moved operations to the Pooler area, where it remains today, proudly serving the Lowcountry and Coastal Georgia. Just two years later, the Savannah bottling operation joined the Coca-Cola Bottling Company United family, based in Birmingham, Alabama. Today, with more than 200 dedicated employees, Savannah Coca-Cola remains committed to the values of quality, integrity, respect and excellence, proudly refreshing our communities while supporting countless civic and charitable initiatives throughout the region.
