Acton of the Rubies

Acton of the Rubies is a nonprofit, learner-driven educational community dedicated to supporting homeschooling families in Elko County, Nevada. As part of the global Acton Academy network, it offers a hybrid learning model that empowers students known as "Eagles" to take ownership of their education. The program emphasizes character development, personal responsibility, and applying knowledge in real-world situations, creating a learning experience that goes far beyond traditional academics.

Rooted in the principles of Learning to Learn, Learning to Do, and Learning to Be, Acton of the Rubies fosters an environment where students grow intellectually and personally. Learners work in multi-age studios, set their own goals, and participate in collaborative, hands-on projects guided by mentors rather than traditional teachers. Programs such as interdisciplinary Quests, Socratic discussions, and community events including the annual Children’s Business Fair help students develop critical thinking, leadership skills, and a strong sense of purpose as they discover their unique gifts and pursue a meaningful path in life.
