Hospice of the Calumet Area
Home

Hospice of the Calumet Area was founded in 1981 as a nonprofit, community-based organization born from a visionary effort led by local medical professionals, clergy, and civic leaders. Inspired by a call from Bishop Andrew Grutka and supported by a major gift from the East Chicago Knights of Columbus, our mission was clear from the beginning: to provide compassionate, dignified care to individuals in the final months of life. As Northwest Indiana’s first hospice, we pioneered a holistic approach that brings together physicians, nurses, therapists, counselors, and trained volunteers to support both patients and their families with comfort and respect, regardless of diagnosis, age, race, or financial status.

Over the decades, our reach has expanded across state lines to serve families throughout Illinois while staying deeply rooted in our founding values. With over 23,000 individuals and families cared for, Hospice of the Calumet Area continues to be a trusted name in end-of-life care. Located at 3256 Ridge Road, Suite 207 in Lansing, IL, we are more than a care provider; we are a community partner committed to walking alongside those facing life’s most challenging moments. Our promise remains unwavering: no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay, and every life is honored with the dignity it deserves.
