The Lansing Historical Society proudly preserves and celebrates the rich heritage of Lansing, Illinois. What began in 1975 as part of the Lansing Bicentennial Commission soon grew into something lasting. A Heritage Committee was created to highlight the village’s history through community programs and exhibits, and the overwhelming response led to the formal establishment of the Lansing Historical Society. Officially chartered by the State of Illinois in February 1976, the Society has remained committed to keeping local history alive for future generations.

Since 1980, the Lansing Historical Museum has welcomed visitors on the ground floor of the Lansing Public Library, offering engaging displays that showcase Lansing’s unique story. From families and school groups to history enthusiasts, all are invited to explore the museum and discover how Lansing has grown and thrived over the years.
