The St. Charles Library has proudly served the community since the St. Charles City-County Library District was created on August 1, 1973, uniting the Kathryn Linnemann Library of St. Charles with the St. Charles County Library District. Governed by a dedicated board of trustees and supported primarily through property taxes, the library has grown into a system of eleven branches that provide convenient access to resources, programs, and services for residents across St. Charles County. With a foundation built on stewardship and accountability, the library continues to evolve to meet the needs of a diverse and dynamic community.

Driven by its mission to ignite curiosity, build meaningful connections, and inspire personal growth, the St. Charles Library empowers individuals through literacy, learning, and discovery. Its vision reflects a commitment to being a vibrant and trusted resource, a place where lifelong learning is nurtured, stories are shared, and communities are strengthened. Through every service, program, and partnership, the library remains dedicated to enriching lives and fostering a brighter future for all.
