Needs of the Heart

JHF supports the financial needs of the families whose children have heart disease. With the help of Social Workers in Colorado’s hospitals, the Jessie’s Heart Foundation provides financial support to those needing assistance with transportation, lodging, food and other unexpected expenses. We believe that reducing the family’s financial burdens, allow parents to focus their time and energy on their children.

Desires of the Heart

We fulfill dreams for cardiac children whose families may not be able to afford. Working through the hospital Social Workers, we learn about the Children’s Desires of the Heart. Some children want to learn a sport or be involved in the arts. Other children want a family adventure to go skiing, an amusement park, sporting event or other activity to bring fun into their lives. The Jessie’s Heart Foundation provides these children with the financial ability to fulfill their hearts' desires.

Health of the Heart

The Jessie’s Heart Foundation has developed programs to assist families in reducing the emotional, physical and financial stress in their lives. Our specialists provide assessment and recommendations to support family’s desires to: cook nutritious meals, plan activities for fitness, create ways to realize their dreams and learn how to best manage their financial burdens.

Studies show that 1 out of every 110 babies is born with some form of congenital heart disease. While heart defects are common, advances in medical technology and practice are making it possible for more patients than ever to not only survive into adulthood but to do so with a high quality of life.

In addition to the medical expenses, families of children with heart disease face other costs, such as lifestyle changes, emotional/physical stress, family uncertainty, and being unable to return to work to care for their child. The Jessie’s Heart Foundation supports these children and their families emotionally, physically, and financially.
