Mapleton City Pioneer Day Celebrations - Parade
Description
2025 Pioneer Days Parade
Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 9:00 AMParade Rules and Guidelines:
All are invited to participate in the Pioneer Days Parade if the following guidelines are adhered to:
- Entry Acceptance: All entries must submit an application. The application deadline is July 7th, 2025. The decision of which entries will be allowed in the parade, and the placement of each entry within the parade, shall be the decision of the Pioneer Days Committee. All decisions are final. The Pioneer Days Committee reserves the right to pull parade entries from the lineup as late as the start of the parade if the entry does not match the application submission.
No political entries will be allowed unless pre-approved by the Pioneer Days Committee and must reflect the Mapleton City motto of "Small town. Big heart."
- Sponsor Name: The name and/or logo of the entry sponsor may be displayed on the parade entry, but it should not detract from the entry. Any commercial message should be a minor part of the entry presentation. Sponsors should avoid over-commercialization.
- Line-Up: The parade starts at 9:00am sharp on Saturday, July 19th. Line-up begins at 8:00 in the Mapleton Junior High School parking lot. All adult participants are to come at that time. Children are to come at 8:15am.
If you have children who will be part of your float, you must provide supervision for them at MJHS until they are brought to their float/parade entry area and at Mapleton Elementary School until a parent/guardian picks them up after the parade.
- Vehicles: All vehicles in the parade must be authorized and recognized through the application process. All authorized vehicles will receive an entry number. NO vehicles without an entry number will be allowed in the parade.
All vehicles MUST be driven by an adult at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license. Helmets are required for any participant riding a bike, ATV, scooter, or off-road vehicle.
All vehicles/parade entries must be in space with the parade and minimize gaps. This means that there should be no more than 30 feet at any time between the front of your entry and the rear of the entry in front of you.
- Walkers: Performers who are part of a parade entry but are not riding on the entry vehicle must stay in the immediate proximity of their parade entry. Individuals walking alongside a parade entry must stay in pace with their parade entry. At no time should anyone move ahead or lag behind their entry. Any person(s) and/or entries causing the parade to slow down may be pulled from the parade.
- Hydration: It is the responsibility of the entrant, not the Pioneer Days staff, to provide adequate beverages to their parade participants. Please make sure everyone has water to stay hydrated, as the parade route is a long and hot walk.
- Participant Safety: No person(s) will be allowed to sit in the back of a truck that is pulling a float or trailer. No person(s) will be allowed to get on/off a float, trailer, or vehicle during the parade once the vehicle has entered the parade route. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure the safety of all riders, float/entry operators, and walkers associated with the entry.
Children may ride on bicycles, scooters, floats, or be pulled in wagons. Those riding bicycles or scooters must wear a helmet and be supervised by at least two walking adults.
Every parade entry is required to provide and maintain adult supervision at all times (including at the parade line-up and after the parade until all participants have been picked up) to protect children participants from injuries that may occur from other entries, floats, and vehicle wheels.
All participants MUST digitally sign and submit a Waiver and Release of Damages form before arriving to the parade.
- Spectator Safety: Pursuant to Utah State Code § 41-6-114, candy or other objects MUST NOT be thrown, shot, or dropped from a vehicle. These items must instead be passed out by people walking the route. Any water shooting devices (e.g., blasters, cannons, squirt guns, water balloons, etc.) are prohibited in the parade. Any entry violating this policy is subject to immediate removal from the parade.
Participants may hand out pre-approved products only (see below).
It is the parade entrant’s responsibility to educate those associated with your entry and enforce these rules.
- Horses: Horse entries must provide their own clean-up crew. Children riding horses must have a parent or other adult accompany them along the entire parade route.
- Additional Information: Additional parade details and instructions (e.g., parade line-up map, dropoff locations, etc.) will be emailed after July 14th to the contact submitted with your application. Please forward this information to all parties associated with your entry.
Please remember that entries that are not received and approved by the deadline, show up to the parade late, do not have signed waivers for all participants, and do not have necessary horse clean-up crews WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE.
