Holland Construction Services, Inc. broke ground March 25 on a $25 million expansion and renovation of the Collinsville Area Vocational Center.
The publicly funded two-year center serves high school juniors and seniors from 10 area high schools: Civic Memorial, Collinsville, Dupo, East Alton-Wood River, Edwardsville, Highland, Lebanon Mascoutah, Roxana and Triad.
The 33,700-square-foot expansion includes the construction of a new building and renovations to the existing facility. The new space will feature larger shop areas to accommodate safer learning environments and modern equipment. With this expansion, the number of programs offered is expected to increase from 16 to 22.
CAVC provides a solid pipeline for careers in trades, the service industry, education and health care to students graduating within these school districts.
“Being part of the Collinsville Area Vocational Center expansion is truly special for all of us at Holland. Workforce development is a priority in the industry right now, making the CAVC such an important project,” said Holland Vice President of Client Relations Ryan Savage. “It’s laying the foundation for future generations of skilled tradespeople and equipping students with the skills they need to succeed. The students who walk through the doors of the CAVC are the skilled trades people of tomorrow. We’re proud to be a part of that mission.”
