Edwardsville Police Department Targets Speeding as Part of Statewide Campaign
The Edwardsville Police Department announced Monday, July 7, that it is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois State Police, and more than 200 law enforcement agencies across the state in an effort to reduce speeding. Throughout the month of July, motorists can expect increased patrols targeting speeding, as well as other traffic violations.
Speeding creates unnecessary risks for all motorists and everyone around them, reducing the driver’s ability to steer safely around other vehicles, hazardous objects, or unexpected curves. Officers will intensify enforcement of posted speed limits during this enforcement campaign. Stepped-up patrols will be on the streets throughout Edwardsville July 8-31.
The speed enforcement effort is part of the 'Speeding Catches Up With You' campaign and is made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by IDOT. It also supports IDOT’s broader 'It’s Not a Game' media campaign.
