Workhouse Arts Campus Welcomes Record-Breaking 166,000 Visitors in 2024The Workhouse marks its highest-ever annual attendance in 2024—an estimated 166,000 visitors, representing a 56%increase over the previous year. This impressive surge reflects the campus's continued evolution into a dynamic cultural destination, fueled by expanded programming, new attractions, and broad regional appeal. One of the most notable additions was the opening of Bunnyman Brewing Café at the Workhouse, which quickly became a visitor favorite and played a key role in boosting foot traffic. The café adds to the Workhouse's diverse lineup of offerings that help position the 55-acre campus as one of the region's premier arts and culture hubs. Each year, the Workhouse hosts more than 800 events, classes, and activities, including over 300 performances, exhibitions, and community gatherings that invite audiences of all ages to connect through the arts. Its resident artists represent a wide array of disciplines—painting, ceramics, photography, glass, and fiber arts—making the campus a vibrant, creative ecosystem. In addition to art galleries and studios, the Workhouse features 10 distinctive event rental spaces and is home to the Lorton Prison Museum, which houses the only remaining cell block from the historic Lorton Reformatory complex, once spread across 3,500 acres. This record-breaking year also underscores the Workhouse's growing role in supporting local tourism and economic development. Increased visitation brings measurable benefits to surrounding businesses and contributes to Fairfax County's thriving cultural identity. With its accessible programs and welcoming atmosphere, the Workhouse Arts Campus continues to foster creativity, community engagement, and cultural enrichment for residents and visitors alike. for more information on events and upcoming programs at the Workhouse go to www.workhousearts.org.
